FOOD SAFETY

Protecting people from serious illness caused by pathogens in our food supply.

Each year in the U.S., there are millions of foodborne illnesses caused by bacteria entering the food supply, often during processing. Albemarle's bromine-based solutions combat bacteria in processing equipment, plants and storage bins to help assure food safety.

FOOD SAFETY - NUMBERS MATTER

FOOD SAFETY

Effective, safe and versatile antimicrobials help keep our food safe.

Albemarle offers several FDA-approved food safety products that reduce foodborne pathogens in both the production and packaging processes:

  • AviBrom® reduces harmful pathogens from raw poultry, including Campylobacter and Salmonella, using a safe, non-corrosive solution.
  • BoviBrom® provides protection against Salmonella and E. coli in red meat proteins, using a safe, non-corrosive solution.
  • PorciBrom® combats Salmonella and E. coli while employing a single-solution antimicrobial
  • SWG® Biocide kills bacteria and removes and controls biofilm deposits in drinking water lines between poultry flocks in commercial grow-out houses.

Albemarle products are designed for use in all phases of the processing facility as part of a true multi-hurdle, multi-technology food safety approach.

Poultry Processing Solutions

Albemarle biocides safeguard carcasses, parts, trim and organs. They can be used in many different poultry processing applications in a variety of equipment such as chill tanks, post-chill dip tanks, air chillers, inside/outside bird washers (IOBW), scalders and both on- and off-line reprocessing of contaminated carcasses.

Meat Processing Solutions

Albemarle’s biocides have been proven effective as antimicrobials on carcasses, hides, heads, trim parts and organs, as well as in ice-making systems for general use in the processing of beef, goat, sheep and pig.
