ALBEMARLE AND CHARLOTTE SPORTS FOUNDATION AWARD PROMISE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT $10,000 GRANT

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 28, 2024 - Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB), a global leader in providing essential elements for mobility, energy, connectivity, and health, and the Charlotte Sports Foundation announced Promise Youth Development as the Meck Mile's  inaugural community grant winner. As the event's premier sponsor, Albemarle committed to supporting the local community by providing a $10,000 award to a nonprofit organization serving youth within the City of Charlotte's Corridors of Opportunity program.

"Promise Youth Development has been supporting under-resourced youth in East Charlotte since 2016," said Netha Johnson, president of Albemarle Specialties. "Its mission aligns with Albermarle's giving philosophy of building resilient communities, a future-ready workforce, and an inclusive, sustainable economy. This grant will fund important programming and create ongoing benefits for all participants."

Promise Youth Development's mission is to develop optimal health through education, resilience-focused mentoring and anti-violence programs. Corridors of Opportunity is associated with the Mayor's Racial Equality Initiative (MREI), a Charlotte public-private partnership that strives toward an equitable city achieving racial equity, social justice, economic opportunity, and upward mobility. MREI is supported by the Albemarle Foundation.

"We appreciate the partnership with Albemarle," said Tesha Boyd, executive director of Promise Youth Development. "The more resources we have available to support our kids and our programs, the more they can achieve now and in the future."

"From day one of planning Meck Mile, Albemarle has been focused on creating a positive community impact with the event," said Danny Morrison, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. "This grant is one of the many ways Albemarle is investing in Charlotte in a meaningful way that will have a lasting impact."

The Meck Mile, a Charlotte Sports Foundation event presented by Albemarle, brought people together from across Charlotte to run, walk, skip, or dance their way through Memorial Stadium during Memorial Day weekend to promote a healthy community.
