Job Description

As (Sr) Specialist Technology, you will be providing creative solutions and will be taking a pioneering role in the optimization and innovation of technology for HPC catalysts. An important part of this role is to act as program leader within R&T to bring new product developments from laboratory scale to commercial production. You will be responsible for initiating and leading programs to support business goals and productivity programs. You are expected to oversee the business case and the scope of these projects and define the strategy and approach to meet the objectives with the team you are leading. You align with the business manager to set the direction and priorities and align with the R&D manager on resource allocation.
Initiation of technological concepts for new or partly new plants is part of your job. You will also act as licensor in (capital) projects lead by others by evaluating technical feasibility, accuracy and completeness of a design. Within the CFT business unit, you will be subject matter expert in the field of hydro-processing catalyst product and production technology, taking a central role in providing advice and guidance to support manufacturing and business teams worldwide.  

Responsibilities:

  • Execution / coordination of feasibility studies (both technically and economically) of new technologies and optimization of existing technologies.
  • Lead product development and commercialization programs in agreement with the respective business manager within constraints of budget, resources, quality and HSE.
  • Provide specialized technology as expert and experience in new product development @ scale up, so that the technology can be further developed.
  • Organize and drive periodical quality and technology review meetings (QTM and TTM) in order to maintain shared future outlook within the various teams of engineers
  • Act as licensor in (capital) projects to guarantee technology feasibility and product quality
  • Act as technology expert within the CFT organization and as coach for colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Master or PhD  in chemical engineering with >6 years relevant experience
  • Has gained extensive experience in at least two of the following three disciplines: Research and Development, Manufacturing (highly desirable) and Engineering
  • Experience with heterogeneous catalyst (preferably hydro-processing catalysts)
  • Communication skills: having an eye for consultation, being able to listen well, being able to respond clearly and with arguments directly
  • Managerial skills in managing employees from a (non-) hierarchical position
  • Must be able to think in a solution-oriented manner (showing creativity and initiative in solving issues in all phases of a program / project).
  • Strategic insight: knows how to use information sources and to value information on the basis of which to draw up lines
  • Advisory skills: to be able to convey a (long-term) vision on complex material and from a non-hierarchical position at strategic level
