For 4th Year: Albemarle Starts Apprentice Program With Focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Albemarle, a global leader in the transformation of essential resources for mobility, energy, connectivity and health, actively encourages diversity of dialogue, experience, talent and thought. Along these lines, and as part of its Corporate Policy on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), it initiated the fourth version of the Learning Program, which, for the second year, considers students belonging to the indigenous communities of the Salar de Atacama.

These are 15 young people from the Antofagasta Region, as well as from the communities of Socaire, Toconao, Camar, Talabre, San Pedro de Atacama and Peine, who will work as medium-level technicians-professionals in extractive metallurgy, developing based competencies. . in the culture of high performance and continuous improvement in the Salar Plant of the non-metallic mining company.

Of the 15 selected, 8 are women, 7 men and 12 are from the indigenous peoples of the Salar de Atacama, which fills us with pride and encourages us to continue being a fundamental actor in the energy transition, which would not be possible without the regional talent and the indigenous communities surrounding our operation," said Manuel Zamora, Albemarle Community Relations Manager.

PROGRAM

This dual initiative, which is promoted by Albemarle in conjunction with the National Training and Employment Service (SENCE) and the Industrial and Mining Training Center (CEIM), aims to provide young people with the possibility of being hired by the non-metallic mining company. . to work as new lithium plant operators, pools and wells, instrumentalists, electromechanics, welders, as well as mechanical assistants and assistants. The hiring rate for last year's program was 90%.

"My expectations are to develop as a person, acquire new skills, knowledge and commitment to perhaps later be hired and continue to grow in the Albemarle team, which is a great opportunity. I am going to put all my effort and dedication into it," said Deyanira Chaile, who belongs to the town of Peine.

EXPERIENCE

Ricardo Díaz, operator of the La Negra Plant and former apprentice of the first version of the program, said that "in this type of program, the important thing is the support of each person who is behind you, of each teacher who has his or her time to reach a high level of teaching, as well as the knowledge provided by Albemarle's colleagues, that is essential."

Albemarle is committed to promoting the employability of local and young talent in the region, as this year with the Internship and Memories Program where the mining company received 26 participants who completed their professional cycle.
