We take pride in being part of the Kings Mountain community. We consider the well-being of our neighbors as an essential component of our business decisions and we strive to make a positive impact on the community through open, transparent communication and economic and community prosperity. Throughout the process, we plan to connect with the community through town hall meetings, the Albemarle's Project Center in downtown Kings Mountain, mine tours, and numerous other events. Follow us on Facebook and sign up for our monthly newsletter to stay posted about future opportunities to engage with us.

Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA)

The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) envisions a world where the mining industry respects the human rights and aspirations of affected communities; provides safe, healthy, and supportive workplaces; minimizes harm to the environment, and leaves positive legacies. IRMA offers objective, independent third-party verification of industrial scale mine sites against a comprehensive definition of responsible mining agreed to through a collaborative, multi-stakeholder process. This definition, which forms the basis of IRMA's Standard for Responsible Mining, covers the full range of issues related to the impacts of mining.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)

As part of the mine planning phase, we will undertake an Environment and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Process to identify and assess, in a comprehensive manner, the potential environmental, social, health, and safety impacts that could occur because of the development, operation, and closure of the mine. During the ESIA process, Albemarle plans to continue engaging with stakeholder to inform them about the process and its progress and gather their input. The ESIA will consider stakeholder input in the development of appropriate measures to avoid, minimize, mitigate, or compensate project impacts.

Community Advisory Panel

As an additional part of our outreach and engagement, Albemarle established a Community Advisory Panel (CAP) to promote sustained and meaningful dialogue between the town of Kings Mountain and nearby communities.
CAP members, who represent business, environmental, social, and economic development interests, are invited to attend regularly scheduled meetings where they participate in candid conversation and provide input on various communication with the Kings Mountain community. A diverse CAP encourages input on a broad range of topics and enables valuable two-way conversation and idea generation.
