Albemarle Corporation is proud to announce the Albemarle Kings Mountain Community Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year, dedicated to supporting Cleveland County's aspiring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students. This program underscores Albemarle's commitment to fostering educational growth and supporting our community's next generation of STEM professionals.

 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Residency and Education: Current high school seniors attending school in Cleveland County, North Carolina 
  • Field of Study: Intention to pursue a STEM major (excluding medical fields) at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school, with full-time enrollment for the entire academic year 
  • Academic Achievement: Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale 
  • Exclusions: Albemarle Corporation employees and their immediate family members (spouses and dependents) are ineligible

Selection Criteria: 

Applicants will be evaluated based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and any unusual personal or family circumstances. 

Scholarship Awards: 

  • Four-Year Institutions: Up to two awards of $5,000 each, renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor's degree is earned, contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and continued enrollment in a STEM major. 
  • Two-Year or Vocational/Technical Schools: Up to two awards of $2,500 each, renewable for one additional year under the same conditions. 

Applications will be accepted February 6- March 6, 2025. Recipients will be notified in early May. The scholarship program and recipient selection will be managed by a third party, the nation's leading administrator of scholarship programs. 

Recipients may be prioritized for potential internships during their degree programs and potential career opportunities with Albemarle Corporation upon graduation.
