As the community of Kings Mountain, N.C. celebrates its 150th anniversary, the Albemarle Foundation honored the city by awarding $150,000 in grants to non-profit organizations that support Cleveland County residents. These grants, announced on Giving Tuesday, are also an investment in the community’s future.

“We are deeply honored to support the Kings Mountain community as it celebrates this historic milestone,” said Albemarle Community Relations Manager Sarah Degnan. “These organizations and the services they provide reflect Albemarle’s belief in creating opportunities that foster lasting, positive change.”

Twenty-one organizations were chosen for their contributions to workforce development and community health, safety, and economic vitality.

Recipients include Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry, the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County, Feeding Kids of Cleveland County and the Kings Mountain YMCA. Find the full list of recipients here.

These grants follow Albemarle’s recent contributions to area organizations to assist in recovery from Hurricane Helene earlier this fall.

Since 2016, Albemarle Corporation and its foundation have contributed more than $2 million to the Kings Mountain and Cleveland County communities.

Albemarle continues activities to potentially redevelop the Kings Mountain Mine. As one of the few known hard-rock lithium deposits in the U.S., the project seeks to bolster the domestic supply of lithium, a critical component for sustainable transportation and key defense applications.

The project includes several environmentally and socially responsible mining features and practices which include prioritizing community engagement and enhancing project benefits to the surrounding communities.
