Albemarle Germany GmbH is an essential part of Albemarle's global organization. 

Albemarle's German plant is located in Langelsheim in the Innerste Valley. Langelsheim is located in the district of Goslar in southern Lower Saxony. 

Albemarle operates a chemical site there and, with around 650 employees, produces a wide range of products made from highly specialized lithium compounds and special metals, including:  

• Organometallic compounds (u. a. Butyllithium), 
• Lithium salts (u. a. Lithium carbonate pharmaceutical grade),  
• lithium metal as well as  
• Products based on other metals such as zirconium, titanium and magnesium.  

These products are used in a wide variety of industrial applications, such as: Glass/ceramics, medicines, elastomers/tires, X-ray technology, airbags, Li-ion batteries, pesticides. 

In addition, Albemarle provides the infrastructure at the chemical site for other, legally independent companies, e.g. wastewater disposal, energy supply, the plant fire brigade and plant security.  

The other companies operating on the factory premises are: 

• Chemetall GmbH/BASF,  
• Synthomer GmbH,  
• Kömmerling Chemische Fabrik GmbH 
• DP-World (Chemical Logistics, Warehousing). 

Today, more than 1,200 people are employed at the Innerstetal chemical site. Of this, Albemarle produces approx. 70 young people were trained in 4 occupational fields.
