Our Mining Interests in Australia

Albemarle Australia has invested in quality partnerships focused on securing and transforming lithium as an essential element. 

 

Our partners are Tianqi Lithium Corporation and IGO at the Greenbushes Lithium Mine and Mineral Resources at the Wodgina Lithium Mine.

Wodgina Lithium Mine

Albemarle holds a 50% interest in the Wodgina Lithium Mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia through its joint venture with Mineral Resources. Wodgina is one of the largest known hard rock lithium deposits in the world. 

 

Wodgina has three processing trains with a nameplate capacity of 750,000 dry tonnes of spodumene concentrate (SC6.0) per year.

Greenbushes Lithium Mine

Albemarle holds a 49% interest in Talison Lithium which owns and operates the Greenbushes Lithium Mine in the South West region of Western Australia. A Tianqi Lithium Corporation/IGO Limited JV holds the remaining 51% of Talison. 

 

Greenbushes is a large-scale, long life, hard rock lithium mine with one of the highest ore reserve grades of any hard rock mine in the world. 

 

Greenbushes has four spodumene concentrate plants operating with a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum. Spodumene concentrate from the mine is supplied to the Kemerton Lithium Plant for processing as well as other conversion sites in Albemarle’s global network.
