- Karen Bailey started at the company this week bringing a wealth of industry experience
Albemarle Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Bailey, a South West local, as the new Site Director of its Kemerton Lithium Processing Plant near Bunbury.
Mrs Bailey brings a wealth of experience to the job having held previous roles as an industrial chemist, site lead, dangerous goods safety adviser and chemical plant manager.
“I have a work history in the chemicals and oil and gas industries and I’m looking forward to making a difference at Kemerton,” she said.
“Starting a new job in a company pioneering a new industry in the South West is incredibly exciting.
“It's like being at the forefront of innovation, where every step you take contributes to shaping the future – and allows a unique opportunity to leave your mark on the future.”
Mrs Bailey has lived in the South West since she and her husband migrated from the UK more than a decade ago.
“I absolutely adore it down here,” she said. “I love the weather and I love the seasons. In fact, from the moment I arrived here, it was like we were home – it was a weird feeling. It just felt right.”
Before moving across to Albemarle, Mrs Bailey was General Manager at Hexion Australia’s Dardanup plant. She also has a chemical engineering degree from Glasgow’s University of Strathclyde and is eager to promote the chemical industry to young females.
Albemarle Australia Chief Operating Officer Walter Sopp said the company was pleased to welcome Mrs Bailey on board.
“We’re excited to have Karen join the Albemarle team. Her wealth of experience and passion for the industry make her a valuable addition and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have at Kemerton and on our company as a whole,” he said.
