Job Description Summary

A strategic and trusted finance partner and principal member of the plant leadership. Lead manufacturing accounting, financial planning and provide analytical support to the plant(s).

Job Description

  • A strategic and trusted finance partner to the plant leadership and COO team in all areas, including proactively driving process and cost discipline and efficiencies, and economic support.
  • Manage and ensure accurate and timely closing of the manufacturing systems and provide clear and concise manufacturing accounting finance guidance and support.
  • Manage and ensure accurate and timely financial planning for the manufacturing plant(s) including weekly & monthly forecasting and preparation of the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Maintain proper manufacturing accounting, processes, and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure no control or audit issues.

Accountabilities

  • Manage and ensure timely plant manufacturing closing and reporting needs.
  • Provide accurate and timely manufacturing costs analysis to the Plant(s), GBU and Corporate.
  • Manage and ensure accurate and timely preparation of the Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecasting.
  • Maintain proper manufacturing accounting, processes, and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure no control or audit issues.
  • Understand all financial and operating aspects of the manufacturing areas of responsibility.
  • Understand how to obtain and maintain information from the SAP modules (C.O., PA, F.I., Purchasing, MM) and Analysis for Office.

Responsibilities

  • A strategic and trusted finance partner and member of the plant leadership in all areas, driving process and cost discipline, efficiencies, and providing finance and economic analysis and support.
  • Accurate and timely manufacturing closing, including execution of plant accounting and internal control procedures.
  • Provide concise and meaningful analysis of manufacturing operating results against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Ensure the manufacturing plant(s) are operating within the budget and forecast.
  • Manage and perform timely standard cost updates and reviews.
  • Ensure effectiveness of internal / SOX controls and coordinate internal auditing at plant level.
  • Review manufacturing transactions to ensure compliance with government requirements and Albemarle Accounting and Internal Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Review and approve capital project requests for manufacturing plant(s).
  • Assist in special projects and information requests, ad hoc financial planning, and analytics
  • Gain insight on the local operations and build rapport with local plant team.

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in plant controlling required
  • 8+ years of progressive experience across multiple finance, accounting and/or business roles preferred
  • Strong demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Thorough manufacturing finance and financial accounting knowledge for US GAAP and local GAAP.
  • Comfortable working in matrix organization
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Highest standards of accuracy, precision, organization and attention to detail
  • Business and industry level, strategic thinking capabilities. Understands business dynamics and the interplay between internal and external macroeconomic and competitive forces
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills
  • Breadth and capacity to take on other finance roles over time
  • Excellent oral and written English skill

Basic Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to advanced financial modeling and overall Excel skills
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management
  • Master Degree preferred but not required
  • CPA , CFA or CMA certifications a plus
  • Six Sigma or other process training a plus
  • Experience with SAP and business intelligence tools in a controlling or manufacturing finance role a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with standard costing principles in a manufacturing setting
