Job Description

Reporting to the APAC Global Trade Compliance Manager, the Trade Compliance Specialist will manage the compliance activities and efforts in Korea to ensure adherence with import/export laws, improve operational efficiency, develop KPI’s, as well as partner with other Global Trade Compliance Specialists to implement Albemarle’s trade compliance strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with safety, security and regulatory requirements including but not limited to trade compliance and customs regulations.
  • Collaboration with regional GBU Leaders to provide appropriate guidance in order to deliver safe, compliant, and sustainable supply chain solutions for customers and business
  • Liaises with customs brokers and GBU supply chain to ensure partners performance is aligned with our expectations.
  • Assist the Regional Trade Compliance Manager in implementing best practices to drive productivity, streamline opportunities, eliminate non-value added services and control costs through the development of metrics around efficiency and reliability. 
  • Works under minimal direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.
  • Openly shares know-how and encourages technical sharing.
  • Proficient at collaborating with business and liaison for custom brokers.
  • Ability to develop and document internal SOPs.
  • Prepare responses and collect information for customs requests.

Your Profile:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in Trade Compliance; Chemical industry experience is a plus.
  • Data driven, addresses partner and customer needs
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Good negotiation and influential skills
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP system, GTS is a plus.
  • Proficient User of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels of leadership internally and externally
  • Acquisition, integration and ERP implementation experience a plus
  • Applied trade compliance analytical abilities in some or all of the following areas: HTS Classification, Export control, Restricted Party Screening, Free Trade Agreements, Country of Origin, and/or Broker Accountability. 
  • Previous experience in valuation, especially ACVA program is highly preferred.
  • Result driven and the ability to work individually or as a part of the team.
