Methylamine catalysts
line

Albemarle has a long tradition in methylamines catalysts. For more than thirty years we have been manufacturing, selling and improving catalysts for the production of methylamines from methanol and ammonia. This resulted in the current grade KDC-6, which is used by all methylamines producers in the world, who apply the conventional process to produce the thermodynamic equilibrium of methylamines.

Compared to all its predecessors, KDC-6 offers superior activity, stability, strength and productivity. Low carbon formation on the catalyst prevents swelling of the particle and combined with the high initial strength, pressure drop problems are almost non existent. But the most important feature is the high stability and high productivity which can be expressed in catalyst life in years, but better in ton methanol processed per ton of catalyst loaded in the reactor. The average catalyst lifetime is 3 years and the average productivity is 14,000 ton methanol/ton catalyst, although this depends largely on the severity of the operation (set by throughput and amount of recycled MMA and TMA).
