Hydrocracker pretreatment

Hydrocracking catalysts usually incorporate zeolites in order to selectively crack heavier feed components into lighter products. Nitrogen in the feed causes substantial inhibition of the acid sites in the zeolite responsible for cracking. Pretreatment of hydrocracker feedstock to reduce nitrogen content to a low level substantially increases the conversion activity of the zeolitic hydrocracking catalyst.

Higher activity hydrocracker pretreat catalysts can substantially improve the profitability of the hydrocracker by allowing more feed or more difficult feedstocks to be processed.
