VGO upgrading
line

VGO upgrading is the hydroconversion of vacuum gas oil to lighter products in the naphtha, jet and diesel boiling range. Diesel selectivity is a desirable characteristic of these catalysts but this must be balanced against the overall conversion required and cycle length. VGO upgrading catalysts are typically in between max. mid-distillate and max. naphtha hydrocracking catalysts in terms of activity and diesel selectivity. Both once through and two stage hydrocracker designs are used for VGO upgrading.

Catalysts for VGO upgrading are zeolite based and can be CoMo, NiMo or NiW in formulation. In order to get optimum conversion activity, the feed needs to be presulfided.
