Bottoms conversion and metals trapping
line

The bottoms conversion potential of Albemarle FCC catalysts is second to none. During the FCC catalyst selection for a particular unit, the bottoms conversion functionality is tuned to the variety of feedstocks normally processed and the associated unit constraints.

To meet market demand, refiners at times have to process marginal feedstocks which have initially not been taken into account. The accessibility, cracking, and metal trapping functionality of the catalyst particles become critical as the concentration of contaminated high molecular weight, sterically hindered molecules in the feed increases. The primary quality measurements impacting the feed effects include feed density, distillation, and concarbon content. Increasing density, residue concentration, and concarbon content, and steric hindrance of the feed in the catalyst pore system will eventually result in a mass transfer limited operation.

Albemarle’s FCC catalyst product portfolio is unique due to its diversity and the performance of our matrix systems. Albemarle has a novel line of FCC additives for bottoms upgrading and metals trapping known as the BCMT series. These additives are an excellent choice to overcome periods in which unusual extremely contaminated feedstocks are processed.
